Trader Joe’s under construction in Dr. Phillips | Dr. Phillips Real Estate Experts | The Orchilles Realty Group

Trader Joe's is building its second Central Florida location in Dr. Phillips. The popular west coast based grocery store has begun construction on Sand Lake Rd. just east of Apopka Vineland Rd. The project involves demolishing a church that currently stands on the property and is set to open later this year.

According to the Orlando Business Journal, construction permits have been obtained for the new Trader Joe's location by Scherer Construction & Engineering of Central Florida LLC. The name of the new retail center will be Parkside at Dr. Phillips and will feature 15,500 square feet of retail space.

Unicorp National Developments, the projects developer, had to hire an off-duty sheriff officer in order to help manage the traffic along Sand Lake Rd. during high traffic times. They did this along with other concessions in order to get the county's approval, according to the Orlando Business Journal.

Trader Joe's has developed quite a following for its organic products and gourmet foods. Many of their products carry their own brand name and the store offers yet another option for their niche clientele. This retail addition to Dr. Phillips will only make the area much more popular along the Sand Lake Rd. corridor.
